Russell A. DeMott
Russell A. DeMott is a 1993 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school Russ served on The South Carolina Law Review, and from 1992 to 1993, Russ served as Research Editor. During law school Russ also worked as a law clerk for Anderson & Associates, P.A. in Columbia. Robert Anderson was the principal shareholder of the firm and a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for Columbia and surrounding areas.
After law school Russ accepted a judicial clerkship in Michigan with the Honorable Harry A. Beach of the Allegan County Circuit Court. Russ worked on numerous cases during this time as a law clerk by writing memoranda to Judge Beach on legal issues and opinions to be issued in those cases. Russ served as law clerk from 1993 to 1995.
In 1995 Russ began his law practice in Michigan. From 1995 to 2005 he successfully represented clients in the areas of bankruptcy, criminal defense, family law, and civil litigation. The Michigan firm founded by Russ in 1997, DeMott & Van Elk, P.C., is still thriving and continues to represent clients in bankruptcy and family law matters.
In 2005 Russ joined Pete Wyckoff in Summerville to form the firm of Wyckoff & DeMott, P.C. Russ's wife, Rita, grew up in nearby Hanahan, and most of Rita's family lives in the Charleston area. Russ and Rita have three daughters and love calling Summerville home.
Russ understands that a successful attorney must not lose sight of the unique needs of each client. He practices law with this in mind, representing clients in real estate transactions, bankruptcies, business formation, and litigation.
